Atal Amrit Abhiyan Health Insurance Scheme

The Atal Amrit Abhiyan (AAA) is a flagship health insurance scheme launched by the Government of Assam on December 25, 2016, designed to provide critical care coverage to low-income households


Key Features & Benefits                                                                          
  • Coverage Amount: Provides an annual insurance cover of up to ₹2 lakh per individual member (not just per family) for inpatient treatment.
  • Cashless Treatment: Beneficiaries can avail of "hassle-free" cashless treatment at empanelled public and private hospitals within Assam, as well as select hospitals in cities like Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, and Mumbai.
  • Diseases Covered: The scheme specifically covers 437-438 medical procedures across six critical specialties:
  1. Cancer
  2. Cardiovascular (Heart) Diseases
  3. Kidney Diseases
  4. Neurological Disorders
  5. Neonatal (Newborn) Diseases
  6. Burn Injuries
Included Costs: Package rates cover consultations, medicine, diagnostics, food, and hospital charges. It also includes a daily allowance for travel expenses for patients and attendants

Eligibility Criteria                                                                                      
  • Residency: Must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Income Groups:
    • BPL Families: Those with an annual income of less than ₹1.2 lakh receive coverage for free.
    • APL Families: Those with an annual income between ₹1.2 lakh and ₹5 lakh are eligible but must pay a nominal premium of ₹100 per member per year.
  • Exclusions: Current or retired employees of the Central or State Government are not eligible.
Required Documents:                                                                                                                 
  • Voter ID (EPIC card)
  • Income Certificate
  • Birth Certificate (for minors under 18)
  • NFSA Ration Card (if available)
  • Recent passport-size photograph (attested by a doctor)
  1. Submission:                                                                                                                           submit the completed form and documents at the nearest Atal Amrit Abhiyan Enrollment Centre or the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services in your district.
  2. Verification: Officers will verify documents and take biometrics (photograph and fingerprints). Once approved, a laminated Atal Amrit Card with a unique ID is issued.
  3. Helpline: A dedicated toll-free number is available for queries at 1800 102 7480.
