Educational Qualification
To apply for the position, a candidate must possess at least a Second Class Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification from a University or Institution recognized by the Government.

Age Limit (As of January 1, 2026)
* Minimum Age: 21 Years
* Maximum Age: 38 Years
Age Relaxation:
The upper age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Assam State Government norms:
* SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 43 years)
* OBC/MOBC: 3 years relaxation (up to 41 years)
* PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): 10 years relaxation
* The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
* Candidates must produce proof of residency (PRC/Employment Exchange Registration Certificate) during the application/document verification process.

Stage 1: Screening Test (Written Exam) / Written Examination
* If the number of applicants is large, APSC will conduct a Screening Test (Objective Type / Multiple Choice Questions) or a formal Written Examination to shortlist candidates.
* Syllabus & Subjects: The test typically focuses on core postgraduate-level Chemistry (M.Sc. standard) along with a section on General Studies & Arithmetic.

Stage 2: Personal Interview (Viva-Voce)
* Candidates who secure the minimum qualifying cutoff marks in the screening test/written exam will be called for the Personal Interview.

* The interview evaluates the candidate’s technical knowledge in specialized chemistry, practical application skills related to geology/mining, and overall personality.
Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
Before the final merit list is prepared, selected candidates must produce their original documents for verification. You must bring:
* Hard copy of the online application form.
* Age proof (Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card or Certificate).
* Educational certificates and mark sheets (from HSLC up to M.Sc. Degree).
* Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) or Employment Exchange Registration Certificate of Assam.
