The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has released an official advertisement for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for the academic year 2026-27. Online applications are invited from eligible students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities of Assam.
Both Fresh and Renewal applications can be submitted through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Standard Schemes (SC / OBC Components)
These criteria apply to the standard Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for SC and OBC students:
* Domicile & Community: The applicant must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Other Backward Classes (OBC) community ofAssam.
* Income Limit:The annual family income of the parents/guardians from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 Lakhs.
* Institutional Verification: The student must be studying as a regular student and possess a valid Bonafide Certificate from the Head of their Institution.
Special Scheme (SC Component-II)
This applies specifically to Pre-Matric SC students whose parents/guardians are engaged in unclean occupations:
* Income Limit:There is no income ceiling(no income limit) for this specific category.
* Occupational Verification: Parents/guardians must have a valid certificate confirming their occupation issued by a state-designated authority (such as the District Social Welfare office, a Local Body officer, or a Civic Agency).
* Institutional Verification: The student must possess a valid Bonafide Certificate from the Head of their Institution.
Important Instructions for Applicants
> Mandatory Face-Authentication: Before applying, students must register themselves on the National Scholarship Portal using the "NSP OTR" App (available on Google Play Store). Face-authentication is mandatory to generate a One Time Registration (OTR) number.
>
* Aadhaar Requirement: An Aadhaar number and a registered mobile number are mandatory to generate the OTR. For minor applicants applying without an Aadhaar, the parent's Aadhaar must be provided.
* Bank Account Details: Applicants must provide an active bank account. The scholarship amount will be disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
* Aadhaar Seeding: It is strictly mandatory that the applicant's bank account is seeded with their Aadhaar number.

Important Note: Make sure the student's bank account is active and properly linked (seeded) with their Aadhaar number, as the entire scholarship amount is strictly disbursed through electronic Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
