Eligibility Criteria & Examination Details
The CTET is conducted in twenty-seven languages across 132 cities in India. Detailed information regarding syllabus, eligibility criteria, and examination fees is available in the Information Bulletin on the official website.
* Paper I: For those intending to be teachers for Classes I to V.
* Paper II: For those intending to be teachers for Classes VI to VIII.
* Exam Mode: Please refer to the Information Bulletin for the latest updates on the test format (OMR or CBT).
Important Instructions for Candidates
1. City Allotment: There is no provision for candidates to select their preferred examination city. The city will be allotted by CBSE on a random basis. Requests for changing the allotted city will not be entertained.
2. Application Process: Candidates must apply online only through the official CTET website.
3. Read Carefully: Before applying, ensure you download and thoroughly read the Information Bulletin to understand the eligibility and language paper requirements.

CTET Paper I: Classes I to V (Primary Stage)

1. Child Development and Pedagogy (30 Questions)
* Child Development (15 Qs): Focuses on physical, cognitive, and social development. Key theorists include Piaget, Kohlberg, and Vygotsky. Covers child-centered education, intelligence, and gender as a social construct.
* Inclusive Education (5 Qs): Addressing learners from diverse backgrounds and children with special needs (CWSN).
* Learning and Pedagogy (10 Qs): How children think, motivation, and factors contributing to learning.
2. Language I & Language II (30 Questions Each)
* Language Comprehension (15 Qs): Reading unseen passages/poems with focus on grammar and verbal ability.
* Pedagogy of Language Development (15 Qs): Principles of teaching, language skills (LSRW), and remedial teaching.
3. Mathematics (30 Questions)
* Content (15 Qs): Geometry, Shapes, Numbers, Arithmetic (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division), Weight, Time, Volume, and Money.
* Pedagogical Issues (15 Qs): Nature of Math, logical thinking, and place of Math in the curriculum.
4. Environmental Studies (EVS) (30 Questions)
* Content (15 Qs): Six main themes: Family & Friends, Food, Shelter, Water, Travel, and Things We Make and Do.
* Pedagogical Issues (15 Qs): Concept and scope of EVS, CCE, and teaching aids.
CTET Paper II: Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage)
Total Questions: 150 | Duration: 2.5 Hours
1. Child Development and Pedagogy (30 Questions)
* Similar structure to Paper I but focuses on the Elementary School Child (pre-adolescence). Emphasis on critical thinking and school-based assessment.
2. Language I & Language II (30 Questions Each)
* Standard comprehension and pedagogy focused on higher-level language acquisition and diverse classroom challenges.
