APSC District Home Guard Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must meet the following requirements as of January 1, 2026:

 * Nationality: Must be an Indian Citizen and a permanent resident of Assam.

 * Educational Qualification: A Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.

 * Age Limit:

 * Minimum: 21 years.

 * Maximum: 38 years.

 * Age relaxations apply: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates.

APSC District Home Guard Recruitment 2026 Salary & Pay Scale 

 * Pay Scale: ₹30,000 to ₹1,10,000

 * Grade Pay: ₹13,300

 * Pay Band: PB - 4

 * Candidates will also receive other allowances as per Assam State Government rules.

APSC District Home Guard Recruitment 2026 Selection Process 

1. Screening Test (Written)

If the number of applicants is high, APSC will conduct a written screening test.

 * Format: Usually an OMR-based (offline) multiple-choice question paper.

 * Syllabus: Generally includes General Studies and may cover topics related to the Home Guard department or administrative aptitude.

2. Physical Fitness Test

Since this is a Class-I uniformed post, a mandatory physical fitness test is conducted to ensure candidates meet the required standards. This includes verifying the height and chest measurements mentioned earlier.

3. Viva-Voce / Interview

Candidates who clear the screening and physical tests are called for a personal interview.

 * Assessment: The interview evaluates technical knowledge, leadership qualities, and suitability for a Gazetted role.

 * Document Verification: Original certificates (Degree, PRC, Caste, etc.) are verified at this stage.

4. Final Merit List

The final selection list is prepared based on the aggregate performance in the written test and the interview.
