SSB Constable Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
Stage 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
This is the preliminary screening stage and is qualifying in nature (marks are not added to the final merit).
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Male Candidates: 4.8 km race to be completed in 24 minutes.
Female Candidates: 2.4 km race to be completed in 18 minutes.
Note: Ex-servicemen are exempted from the PET.
Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates are measured for height and chest (males only).
General Height (Male): 170 cm (Relaxable for ST and specific regions like Assam, Gorkhas, etc., to 162.5–165 cm).
General Height (Female): 157 cm (Relaxable for ST and specific regions to 150–155 cm).
Chest (Male): Minimum 80 cm with a 5 cm expansion.
Stage 2: Written Examination (CBT)
Candidates who pass the physical tests will be called for a Common Entrance Test.
Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT) or OMR-based.
Type: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Total Marks: 100 Marks (100 Questions).
Duration: 2 Hours (120 minutes).
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

Stage 3: Documentation & Skill Test
Documentation: Original certificates (Age, Education, Caste, Experience/Driving License) are verified.
Skill/Trade Test: Mandatory for posts like Driver, Cook, Barber, etc. It is a 50-mark practical test.
Qualifying Marks: 60% for all categories.
Note: Final merit is usually based on written exam marks, but the skill test must be cleared.
Stage 4: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
The final stage ensures candidates meet the medical standards of the CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces). This includes vision checks (6/6 and 6/9), hearing, and general physical health. If a candidate is found unfit, they may apply for a Review Medical Examination (RME).
